WOULD WE FORGIVE HIM IF HE WASN'T A STAR???

Now that sanjay dutt has been sentenced to six years imprisonment, the media surely has got lots to write about. I mean breaking news another topic for discussion. Infact even radio channels are having caller programes and asking people HOW DO U FEEL ABOUT THE WHOLE….DO U THINK JUSTICE HAS BEEN DONE TO HIM….I mean…please …and how can I just blame the media for creating hype, there are many callers who are crying, not eating coz their munnabhai has been awarded a sentence…I mean I can almost bet that if he was set free these same people would come out complaining that ‘HE HAS BEEN SET FREE COZ HE IS A STAR, HE HAS MONEY AND POWER. ITS JUST THE POOR WHO HAVE TO SUFFER AND ALL THAT’ …I wonder how the PUBLIC would be satisfied and why care for their satisfaction. They WILL TALK whatever happens, they will give their views…and the have full freedom to do so…but does their view really matter…I mean would it cut down on a MISTAKE sanjay did years ago…more than a 100 crore are riding on the actor… filmmakers are ready to freeze their projects to show regards towards dutt… and a legend like dilip kumar has filed an affidavit endorsing dutt’s character and if that wasn’t all bets were being put before the sentence was announced as to what the final verdict would be…I mean where would all this lead…I agree he has suffered enough but would we still be in favour of freeing him if he was just a citizen (and not a star)…I like his films too and I am not against him…infact, I too felt bad but we cant just let such MISTAKES be repeated and we cant just forget what happened…can we???

you cannot possible make everyone happy...

if the decision was different.. you would have a huge number complaining against it too...

I kinda agree to you and believe that we cannot make exceptions because of the background or other external factors...

hey u beat me on this..ws thinking of posting on this topic..ya u r correct, there would have been reactions if he were freed..bein a lawyer i ws lookin at it from a strictly legal point of view n was thinkin tat he wuld be freed..but d judge seems to hv taken a tough stand..he stil hs one more opportunity..n lookin at d merits of d case i suppose tat if d state duznt appeal against d acquittal on TADA charges n only dutt appeals against the conviction..thn he will most probably be freed bcos there is an apparent contradiction between d order acquitting him of TADA charges n the one refusin probation n sentencing him to six years under the Arms Act...all said n done u r right, such a grave mistake which took so many lives cant be forgiven n forgotten jus because he is a star..

nicely written.
but most of the times, fans are foolish. they do know what he has done, n deep down they too know he deserves it, but still they make a fuss jus because they have to.

in that case you would be glad to know that I am still pretty upset with that post...
Would love to see it being edited or removed..
going by sanjay dutts Gandhigiri way now by requesting you to edit it ;-)
But this 'Sanjay Dutt' thing is something on which I had had a heated discussion with some friends the other day and was taken aback to see the kind of support he is getting even from MY friends..
But I did manage to convince them to some extent..
One more thing...I appreciate comments and criticism equally on my writings and I like to know whether you like or dislike what I write...your comments never reveal that and leave me no happier..my posts have become arbitrary and disorganised of late but weekend should gimme time to sort out things...
keep blogging!
bye then

hmm...this is a very controversial topic to discuss as u must have already known by now. Different people have different perspectives, u just cant derive any inference for this case..

i do agree with u..i really feel i shouldnt be thinking bout it much..but since tis already so much hyped and everywhere on the blogsvile, i thought i'd read some f the posts.

i remember watching aajtak where they actually showed the interviews of the general public literally cursing the court to indict sanju baba..but i also realized if it wud hv been the other way..the medi wud hv interviewed another set of people where they wud hv shown ppl cursing the court for not indicting him..so i feel media is responsible for everything that has been happening..

the next day in the newspaper, there was an article saying what all things he took inside the jail..i mean cmmon just because he is a star doesnt mean the media has to hype it so much just to gain its TRP..

i feel terrible seeing the state in which the indian media is currently surviving in..

newas..tc!

I guess most of the sensible people feel that way...you really cannot make any exception to law on any basis.

You captured it well... they would've reacted negatively irrespective of the verdict... criticising, protesting, rebelling is very fashionable these days.. some forget that they criticise just for the sake of criticism and for being seen as someone who disagrees...

Couldn't agree more.

You can please some of the people some of the times but you can't please all the people all the time.

I feel the punishment was harsher just to reinforce the image of the judiciary in the peoples' minds.

He could've gotten out with a slightly less harsher punishment.

well...true..i mean if he wasn't a movie star treatment wud 'av been dfrnt..but i personally don thnk his part in de bomb blasts played a major role rather that tym too he suffered due to the company he had.. yeah u can't say he was innocent..but still if someone has changed himself ..its also not right that you dont give him one chance..

well your comment left me grinning hard...
its high time now that I decided not to guess the knowledge of DU janata..
I invariably end up grossly UNDER or OVER estimating it..
and be retorted by comments like the one you did..
